My Mother, Diana (Royal Documentary) | Real Stories
My Mother, Diana (Royal Documentary) | Real Stories bsocially 6 Views • 4 years ago

How the ‘War of the Wales’ shaped the life of Prince William

Nearly thirty years after his parents exchanged their wedding vows, Prince William walked down the aisle at Westminster Abbey with his new bride. 'My Mother Diana' looks at how Diana’s life, her relationship with the House of Windsor, the media and the public have shaped her eldest son, Prince William. When a twenty year-old Lady Diana Spencer married Prince Charles, the heir to the throne, their wedding at St Paul’s was watched by billions; it was the last great royal wedding to galvanise the British public. But that relationship would develop into a romantic tragedy, whose effects would be more profound than anyone could have imagined. In his marriage to Kate Middleton, Prince William is entering into a new and independent stage of his life…a life in which his mothers influence and presence appear centre-stage and ever-present.. It is easy to forget that William’s formative years were not the idyll with the ’Princess of People’s Hearts’…rather they took place in the midst of a vicious divorce battle. William’s loyalties divided and fought over during the War of the Wales.

‘My Mother Diana’ is the story of Charles and Diana's marriage from a new and revealing point of view. It’s the story of how their marriage shaped William. It explores the effect of his mother’s relationships, the tell-all book she collaborated on with Andrew Morton, the effects of her Panorama interview and William's reaction to his father’s relationship with Camilla. On the surface William appears to be a product of the old order, groomed by the House of Windsor. But William is the son of Diana – who transcended celebrity and transformed the monarchy. This film seeks to understand William by exploring his relationship with his mother and examines where William was as key moments of her later life played out; because what she went through made him who he is today Why did William propose using his mother’s engagement ring? And what does it tell us about this future King and the legacy of his mother Diana? Fourteen years after her death Diana’s influence appears undiminished. But will William be the King Diana wished him to be?

Just Business: The Man Who Made A Family Vanish (Crime Documentary) | Real Stories bsocially 6 Views • 4 years ago

Mr Chohan had a successful business worth £5m. Kenneth Regan was known as Captain Cash from his drug dealing days, and along with his two henchmen, they hatched a plot to take over the Chohan’s business and use it to front their drug smuggling ring. Mr Chohan, his young wife, her mother, and the couple’s their two baby sons were lured into a trap and brutally murdered, covered up as an innocent but tragic sudden disappearance. The plot was only foiled by a family murder in New Zealand, refusing to believe that they would all vanish, as a result of tax avoidance or a business agreement gone sour. The bodies of the three adults washed up along the coasts of the UK, but the two babies were never found. This documentary, made for Channel 4 strand ‘Dispatches’ explores the heinous crimes and the investigation.

Annie: Out of the Ashes (Extraordinary Person Documentary) | Real Stories
Annie: Out of the Ashes (Extraordinary Person Documentary) | Real Stories bsocially 6 Views • 4 years ago

Documentary in which a woman, who was adopted out of a Gypsy family after her mother supposedly left her in a burning caravan when she was a baby, tries to uncover the truth about her past.

Annie has grown up believing that her severe facial scarring is the result of her Irish Traveller mother trying to kill her by setting fire to the caravan in which Annie was sleeping. Could she have been driven by a fear of being ostracised by the community, having had an affair and given birth to a mixed-race baby?

Annie was adopted, and 30 years later, she wants to investigate her past. Armed with just a few names and dates from the original social services documents concerning her adoption, Annie is determined to find people who know the truth of what happened that night in 1986.

Annie was adopted by a white family. Her adoptive mother taught her there was nothing she couldn't do. But she felt her identity was a 'blur' - part Afro-Caribbean, part Traveller, part white. Annie has had no contact with the Gypsy community and is desperate to understand what it was within the culture that might have caused her birth mother to take such extreme measures. Was it the colour of Annie's skin? That she was the product of an affair? Or both?

In a meeting with representatives from the Gypsy Council to find out about Gypsy culture, a shocking revelation causes Annie's investigation to change direction. Did her mother really do it? Or was she simply blamed for an accidental caravan fire by her outraged community? Supported by her fiance and her adopted family, Annie won't give up until she tracks down the people who can give her the truth.

Faulty Electrics on Flight 811 | Unlocking Disaster | Mayday: Air Disaster bsocially 6 Views • 4 years ago

PART 1 | As Flight 811 takes off from Honolulu to Auckland, New Zealand, nobody suspects there could be a serious weakness in the aircraft. The Boeing 747 is heavily loaded with three hundred and thirty-six passengers, crowded cargo holds, and a full fuel load. For veteran pilot Captain David Cronin who’s been flying for United Airlines for almost 35 years, it’s a routine flight. For passengers Bruce Lampert and Bob and Linda Bahna, it’s a vacation trip. As the 747 climbs to twenty-three thousand feet the passengers hear a grinding noise. Then, suddenly, the cargo door tears off, taking five rows of seats – and nine passengers – with it. The pressurised air inside the plane blasts out with explosive force.

What do you think caused the cargo door to tear off? Do you think this incident could have been down to human error?

Why Did The Fire Spread So Fast On Flight 111? | Fire On Board | Mayday: Air Disaster bsocially 6 Views • 4 years ago

PART 2 | Do you think that the pilots could have done anything more to stop the fire from breaking out so destructively? When the pilots switched off all non-essential electrical systems, they thought that they had switched off the in-flight entertainment system. As the cockpit fills with smoke, pilots are forced to leave their seats. Investigators believed that there was no one at the controls of Flight 111 when it crashed. When the passengers and crew saw this, they knew they were in trouble.

The Canadian Coast Guard picks up bodies and wreckage on the surface of the water. The black box and the cockpit voice recorder both stopped at the same time as the last transmission. Experts study the remains of the cockpit the discover what caused the fire and it turns out that the in-flight entertainment system provided the spark and the insulation that covers the inside of the aircraft provided the tinder.

Racing The Storm | FULL EPISODE | Mayday: Air Disaster bsocially 6 Views • 4 years ago

Flight 1420, an American Airlines MD-82, leaves Dallas-Fort Worth for Little Rock two hours late due to thunderstorms. To keep the airline schedules on track, the American Airlines dispatcher tells the crew to “expedite their arrival” to beat the storms to the Little Rock airfield. It’s a short hop and radar weather data shows a clear corridor, or a “bowling alley,” as the dispatcher calls it, through which Flight 1420 should be able to fly to its destination. Captain Richard Buschmann and co-pilot Michael Origel prepare to beat the storm. One hundred miles from Little Rock, as 1420 begins its descent, severe thunderstorms close in on the airfield, bringing with them dangerously unstable winds.

The ensuing accident is the result of bad judgement, decision-making under stress, and one of the most dangerous conditions in modern aviation – “hurry-up syndrome.” Little Rock is a disaster born of the time pressures inherent in modern commercial aviation. Airlines have schedules to keep, and connections to make. Delays can have a ripple effect throughout the system with massive financial consequences. In this case, the rush to land in dangerous conditions has tragic consequences.

What type of disasters would you like to see next on the Mayday channel?

Mayday air crash investigation will show you infirmation about British Midland flight 92 The Kegworth air disaster occurred when British Midland flight 92, a Boeing 737-400, crash onto the motorway embankment between the M1 motorway and A453 road near Kegworth, Leicestershire, England, while attempting to make an emergency landing at East Midlands Airport on 8 January 1989.Air Crash investigation The scene of the disaster, with the runway that G-OBME failed to reach at the top of the Video and picture.

The aircraft was on a scheduled flight from London Heathrow Airport to Belfast International Airport when a fan-blade broke in the left engine, disrupting the air conditioning and filling the cabin with smoke. The pilots believed this indicated a fault in the right engine, since earlier models of the 737 ventilated the cabin from the right, and they were unaware that the -400 used a different system. The pilots mistakenly shut down the functioning engine.(Air crash Investigation) They selected full thrust from the malfunctioning one and this increased its fuel supply, causing it to catch fire. Of the 126 people aboard, 47 died and 74 sustained serious injuries.
