An affectionate insight into being old today.
Three Golden Oldies pass on their astute and humorous insights on becoming old and poor, and the stark choices they now face in their twilight years. Full of wisdom, independent spirit and hard earned perspective. Makes you ask, could this happen to me?
Doris is 84, who won’t let a living soul (including the film-maker) inside her chaotic Clacton home - for fear that social services will take it away from her.
Feisty Kitty in Exeter is also 84. She shows us her Kate Moss inspired knicker and bra collection, and dreams of a miracle cure to an illness like most dream of winning the lottery.
And then there’s relatively youthful and charismatic Frank from Liverpool, who at 72 has lost his family to emigration and with no one left has lost the will to carry on - but not his intelligence or tragic humour. Self-imprisoned in his own home like a character from a Samuel Beckett play, his neighbours rarely see him. He hasn’t had a bath in years – mainly because he doesn’t have one.
Golden Oldies was produced by True Vision Productions. If you wish to find out more the people featured in this documentary then go to http://truevisiontv.com/foundation

Follow the dramatic and emotional stories of a group of pregnant inmates at the Indiana Women's Prison, in the US, which runs a unique scheme allowing some prisoners to keep their children on the ‘baby wing’.
With a 400 per cent increase in the number of incarcerated women in the US in the last 30 years, thousands of babies are born in American prisons every year, meaning competition for places on Indiana’s baby wing is fierce. Many prison mothers have their babies taken away from them 24 hours after giving birth, but a few lucky ones are permitted to keep their babies in the Indiana facility’s unique prison nursery.
Featuring births, babies and often intensely emotional scenes, this series uses powerful personal stories to pose questions about how the American criminal justice system deals with women and children and how the bond between mother and child survives the harsh realities of life behind bars.

More than half of young Canadian adults aged between 20 and 29 still live with their parents. After a childhood of overprotection, overindulgence, over-everything, today’s young adults are finding the real world a little too real. Generation Boomerang examines the reasons why so many of today’s young adults are slow to launch out into the world. A tough economy gets much of the blame but a peek below the surface reveals that this is a generation reluctant to give up the comforts of home.
Generation Boomerang weaves together personal stories with expert analysis. Sociologists and psychologists weigh in with differing views on whether this trend is a good thing or whether we are raising a generation of Peter Pans who will never grow up. For better or worse, this new living arrangement is something many experts believe is here to stay.

On 9th September 2015, Queen Elizabeth II became the longest serving British monarch. One of the most enduring images of her coronation in 1953 is that of Her Majesty surrounded by her dukes. Their influence once extended beyond the merely ceremonial, they were a crucial part of the architecture that supported the monarchy. Only 24 noble dukes now remain and this documentary - with unique access to the dukes of Norfolk, Argyll, Montrose and Marlborough – explores both the fascinating history and function of their great dukedoms in modern day Britain.

The New York film set mascot who overcame homelessness and alcoholism to become a fixture of the New York film industry, with over 100 small parts to his name.
Craig Castaldo overcame alcoholism and homelessness, but it is his life as ‘Radioman’ that has inspired millions. Of the followers he has entertained with his bold approach to demanding film roles, Tom Hanks, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Helen Mirren, and Robin Williams are but a few of his friends, admirers and co-stars. Featured in this documentary, these A-listers uncover the endearing truth behind the homeless man with a passion for cinema, and a talent for spotting film sets!
Named for the large radio that hangs around his neck, the charmingly bad-mouthed cameo-actor has now featured in around 100 Hollywood films. Life on the streets has engineered a reliable and extensive information network, which Radio utilizes to infiltrate film sets. Meryl Streep calls him a ‘good luck charm’ for the actors – and Whoopi Goldberg even took him to the Oscars as her guest in one of the years she hosted!
Described as a ‘mystery’ by Jude Law and ‘high-voltage’ by Johnny Depp, this feature documentary explores the career of this unique character. Peppered with contributions from the stars, follow Radioman from homelessness to hero as he travels around New York following the film sets, entertaining the actors, cheekily advising the directors and enjoying the spotlight – as captured in The Departed, Dark Knight Rises, Shutter Island and TV series 30 Rock – along with many more…

The Price of Honor is an award-winning documentary about the murders of Amina and Sarah Said, teenage sisters from Lewisville, Texas, who were killed in a premeditated “honor killing” in 2008. The film chronicles the lives of the sisters and the path to their eventual murders by their own father, Yaser Said, who fled the crime scene and remains at large.
The film reveals new details and uncovers evidence about the case that has never before been made public, including a previous murder committed by Yaser, his abuse of his daughters from a young age, and the ultimate sacrifice of Amina Said, who had a secret plan to protect the love of her life. Her voice, through home video, emails, letters and diary entries, becomes a powerful thread throughout the film depicting the girls’ struggle and makes us reconsider much of what was assumed about this case. Despite the tragedy, viewers learn of an incredible love story that still has life after death.

In 1990 Romania, the world was stunned by what was revealed: Images of orphanages, of starving, freezing unloved children, suffering shocking untold misery.
Crammed into small rooms, bed-bound on rotting faeces stained matresses, they were closeted away from the society and often malnourished.
Many of them in fact were not orphans, but had been placed in the institutions by the desperately poor families who had been forced to have more children than necessary as part of Nicolae Ceausescu’s insane population building policy.
Thousands of parents all over the world responded by going to Romania to adopt a child. In some cases it took as little as two weeks to complete the process.
324 children were officially adopted into English families and 787 into Irish families. This documentary will tell some of their stories, as we trace the progress of a group of these Romanian orphans and their adoptive families.
